01Included

What does a commercial include?

  1. 01

    Idea and script

We come up with the idea, write the script and storyboard and show you all of it before we shoot. If you already have an idea, or an agency that owns it, we make the film from that. We do this for Redgert Comms.

  2. 02

    The shoot

Direction, camera, light and sound, in a studio or on location, in Stockholm or further away. For We Effect it was four days in Kenya with two cameras and a drone.

  3. 03

    3D and effects

Not everything can be filmed. Then our 3D team builds the product, the environment or the whole scene and places it in the picture. In the Lundhags film an actor walks through city, winter and summer in a single sweep. The winter was a heap of snow in a studio and the mountain is 3D.

  4. 04

    Edit, colour and sound

The team that shot the film cuts it, grades it and does the sound and music.

  5. 05

    Every format

One shoot becomes landscape, portrait, square and 4:5, plus short versions for social media. For Humana we delivered every film in four formats, and for Garant both longer films and clips of six and fifteen seconds.

  6. 06

    Delivery

Finished files in the formats your channels need, and a schedule already in the quote. How fast it can go: the Nordic Star Cup aftermovie was ready two days after the final whistle.

02Process

How a commercial gets made

  1. 1

    Brief

Tell us what the film should do, where it will be seen and when it has to be ready. A few lines is enough. We come back with questions and a price.

  2. 2

    Idea and script

You see the idea and the script before anything is shot. That is when it is cheap to change your mind.

  3. 3

    The shoot

Director, photographer, sound and 3D from the same team. We shoot in a studio or on location, and if the film needs 3D we plan for it now, before the camera rolls.

  4. 4

    Edit and delivery

Edit, sound, colour and effects, then files in the formats your channels need. You give feedback, we adjust and you publish.

03Price

What does a commercial cost?

Four things set the price: how many shooting days and people the film needs, how much is built in 3D, how many films and formats it should be, and how fast it has to go. We add them up to a fixed price before we begin.

  • Smallfrom SEK 10,000

One animation, one product image in 3D or one short clip. About two working days.

  • Mediumfrom SEK 40,000

One shoot day or one 3D film, edited and delivered in the formats your channels need.

  • Largefrom SEK 65,000

A campaign with several films and images, from idea to finished files.

Bigger films we plan together, and the schedule comes with the quote. If you already know what you want you can order straight in Motorn. How we count is in the price guide. Order straight in Motorn →

06FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does a commercial cost at Midnatt?

A commercial starts at SEK 40,000, which is one shooting day or a film built in 3D. An animation or a short clip starts at SEK 10,000 and a campaign with several films and images at SEK 65,000. How we count is in the price guide.

How long does it take to make a commercial?

It depends on the film. An animation or a short clip takes about two working days. Bigger films we plan together with you, and the schedule is in the quote. When it has to be fast: the Nordic Star Cup aftermovie was ready two days after the final whistle.

Do you come up with the idea and write the script?

Yes, if you want us to. We come up with the idea, write the script and storyboard and then make the film. If you already have an idea, or an agency that owns it, we make the film from that, as we do for Redgert Comms.

Which formats do we get?

Landscape, portrait, square and 4:5, plus short clips. Tell us where the film will be shown and we plan the shoot for every format from the start. That is easier than recutting afterwards.

Can you mix film and 3D?

Often, yes. In the Lundhags film the camera moves through several seasons in a single sweep, where 3D stitched the transitions together. In Xpeng's films the car stands still in the studio while everything that moves is built in 3D.

Do you make explainer videos?

Yes. An explainer is a short film that shows how a product or service works. It can be filmed, animated or built in 3D, and we make it the way we make a commercial: idea, script, production and edit.

Where do you film?

Where the film needs us. Our office is at Krukmakargatan 44 in Stockholm. We have built a kitchen in the middle of a meadow for Garant, filmed four days in Kenya for We Effect and dived with the camera for Actic.

What do we need to have ready before we get in touch?

Nothing in particular. A few lines about what the film should do, where it will be seen and when it has to be ready is enough. Nothing is binding.
